These are the Rift Quest & Crime City skins I had the pleasure to work on as Associate Art Director on 2XKO.

Rift Quest was a challenging thematic because out of the 4 skins, 3 of them are of Epic Tier (Yasuo, Illaoi & Teemo). Epic skins reuse a significant part of the Base Champion's 3D model whereas the tiers above have completely bespoke models. The goal with Epic skins was for them to be faster to produce while still offering a new fantasy, distinct from the Base Champion.
At first, it was tricky for the concept team to dial in how much change was enough and how much was out of scope. Later in production, our concept artists got so good at this exercise that they were able to sell a completely different character fantasy with minimal model change and wise color choices.

Crime City is a thematic we adapted from League and tried to keep as faithful as possible to the original. Our new addition to it was Darius which introduces contrast from Braum & Jinx's cleaner looks. My favourite part of working on this thematic was looking into roaring 20s and prohibition era fashion.
